Ten points sharper but a bit dark and a glass reveals extremely fine roughness under slightly glossy dark olive brown toning. The highpoints are a lighter shade of brown and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. The only marks are a couple fine, old scratches in the field behind the portrait, all lost in the natural toning. MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks. An important example of this variety, one of the finest known. Graded EF40 and CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF45 net VF30 and tied for CC#4, his photo #24094. Comes with a nice provenance.Ex B. G. Johnson (St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.)-Henry C. Hines-Willard C. Blaisdell 2/1973-Denis Loring 5/1974-Dr. Robert J. Shalowitz-Ray Chatham-Dorothy I.
