1802 S-242 R2 MS63Highly lustrous golden light olive and steel brown with generous traces of mint red remaining on both sides, especially on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is superb. Essentially a flawless cent except for a few inconspicuous scratches: one high on the neck, another down from the right end of the foot of F in OF to the leaf tip below and the final one through the left foot of the second A in AMERICA. None of these marks is visible to the unaided eye. Otherwise this cent is an absolute gem. Nicely struck LDS, Breen state III, with die clashmarks on both sides and a crack through NIT to the dentils at both ends. Graded MS62 and CC#1 as the only true mint state example in the Noyes census, his photo #40008. Not seen by Bland; the finest in his census grades AU55. Our grade is MS63. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS64+ with CAC approval. A beautiful cent, the undisputed finest known of the die variety.Certificate Number: Pedigree: Ex W. G.
