Bright silvery toning with frosty devices and reflective fields giving this piece a cameo appearance. May well have been a proof strike. The only notable marks are a few tiny ticks on the rims, none notable. Sharply struck and quite attractive. These were funeral medals (called pennies by Breen) celebrating the life and service of our first president. The date of his birth is rather crudely corrected from 1752 to 1732, and the date of his death is incorrectly entered as Dc.21, 1799 instead of DEC 14, 1799. An impressive piece with historical significance. Weight 209.3 grains, diameter 33 millimeters.
