1800 S-208 R3 VF25Sharpness EF45 with great color, no contact marks, and smooth surfaces except a dozen relatively pits of various sizes on the reverse. The obverse is a "WOW" coin, clearly the finest known of the die variety if the reverse was comparable. No verdigris, and the eye appeal of the reverse isn't horrible. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with lighter brown in protected areas. Probably retoned long ago but the color is really nice. E-MDS, Breen state II early, with die failure at TY but the rim cud has not formed. The fields on both sides are smooth and slightly reflective, and there are fine die clashmarks on both sides, strongest on the obverse. Graded EF45 net VF30 and tied for CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF40 net VF20 and tied for CC#3, his photo #25814.Certificate Number: Pedigree: Ex Jack Collins, Bowers & Ruddy 10/1977:842-William R. T. Smith, 1979 EAC Sale, lot 107-Denis W.
