Sharpness near EF45 but lightly burnished and nicely recolored glossy chocolate and dark steel brown with peeps of lighter brown in a few protected places. Smooth and nearly void of marks. A small nick on the neck and a tick on the truncation over the first 0 in the date may help identify this cent. M-LDS, Breen state II late. The die cracks are clear but the tiny cud break under the fraction has not formed. Graded VF35 and tied for CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF45 net VF30 and tied for CC#5, his photo #28659. Comes with a wonderful provenance that includes some of the brightest luminaries in large cent collecting.
