Frosty light chocolate brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and frosty lighter brown toning in protected areas. This cent is choice except for a small area on the upper neck that was rubbed leaving lighter reddish tan toning at that spot. This cent was struck from the late, heavily rusted state of the dies, Breen state IV. Both sides show extensive evidence of die rust, strongest on the right side of the obverse and inside the wreath. The rust blunted many of the finer details on the dies and this cent shows only a trace of very light wear on the highpoints. Noyes and Bland both grade it net EF40, tied for CC#8 in the Noyes census, his photo #34492. Our grade is EF45+ sharpness net EF40+. An attractive cent that comes with a very nice provenance. AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 15% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
