1798 S-148 R2 Style I Hair, Large 8, PCGS graded AU58+Frosty tan with steel brown toning on the highpoints. A sharp, very attractive cent with just a light touch of friction on the highpoints. The sharpness is closer to mint state than the grade we assigned, but there is a very light, barely visible scratch from the neck to the bust. Otherwise just a few small nicks in the field under the hair ribbon and a small low spot in the field against the neck. M-LDS, Breen state VI, with a bold cud break connecting ERTY to the rim and fine die cracks on both sides. Our grade is net EF45+. A relatively new discovery that came from England; not seen by Noyes or Bland. This is the finest known example with the cud break at ERTY. AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
