1798/7 S-152 R2 Overdate Large 8 over 7, PCGS AU Detail, CleanedA sharp cent that shows very little wear, but it was lightly cleaned and nicely retoned glossy chocolate brown and steel blending to darker chocolate in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and the only marks are a thin planchet fissure near the rim left of the L and a couple small nicks on the neck into the hair. The planchet fissure reaches around to the I in UNITED, but it is barely visible there. M-LDS, Breen state III, with a clear radial die crack from the rim to the hair near the curl under the hair ribbon. Struck with the obverse die slightly misaligned to the top. Graded AU55 net EF45 and CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF45 net VF30 and tied for CC#5, his photo #27513. Our grade is EF45 sharpness net VF35. AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
