1798/7 S-151 R3 Overdate Small 8 over 7 PCGS graded AU50Frosty dark steel brown with lighter brown and golden tan in protected areas. The surfaces are mostly smooth and attractive and the eye appeal is excellent, but there is a trace of very shallow reddish crust hidden in the protected area around the eye and in the depression at the top of the ear. The only notable contact mark is a peanut-shaped planchet chip just right of the F in OF (as struck). E-MDS, Breen state III early, with most but all of the fine die cracks Breen lists for that die state. In addition there is significant die crumbling in the dentils from the date to left of the lower curls. Struck slightly off center to K-3 affecting only the dentils. The overdate feature is quite bold. This cent is plated in the 1991 Noyes reference to illustrate the variety. Graded EF40 and CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #20875. AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
