1797 S-131 R2 Stemless Wreath PCGS graded AU55Frosty steel and olive brown with traces of lighter golden tan faded down from mint color in protected areas on the reverse. Mint luster shows in the protected areas on both sides and this cent has excellent eye appeal. No spots or stains, only light friction on the devices and trivial contact marks on smooth surfaces. The notable marks are some nicks at the eyebrow and a thin nick on the cheek near the earlobe. E-MDS, Breen state II. There is a small chip hanging down from the end of the nose but no crack into the field from the lower curls. The nearly vertical crack in the field before the portrait is clear. Struck with the obverse slightly misaligned to K-3. Noyes photo #60627. Not seen by Bland. Our grade is EF40; among the top 3 or four examples of the variety in our opinion. AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
