1797 S-121a R6+ Reverse of 1796, Plain Edge Fair-2Glossy chocolate brown and steel with lighter brown toning around LIBERTY. Smooth with a few marks, just well worn. A small rim bruise under the end of the bust and a curved indent line at RIC are the notable marks. The obverse is sharper than the reverse, as usual with this die pair, perhaps a 3/1 split. LDS, Breen state V, with die cracks and swelling. The edge is plain, void of any trace of the series of lumps and grip indents associated with the "Griped Edge" planchets. The Plain Edge version of the S-121 die pair is unknown in high grade; the finest known to us grades net VG7, and it has significant surface impairmentsCertificate Number: Pedigree: Ex John Cloutier-Fred H.
