1796 S-85 R5- Liberty Cap PCGS graded AU58Glossy light brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and hints of mint frost in protected areas. Smooth and sharp with very nice eye appeal, but there are some small contact marks keeping this cent from a slightly higher grade. A group of tiny nicks under the earlobe, a pair of light scratches near the rim before the face, and a few pinpricks on the pole are the notable marks, but none of them is significant or distracting. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I, before the reverse was reground weakening many of the devices. Graded VF30 by Bland and tied for CC#4. Noyes says EF40 net VF30 and tied for CC#2 with the ANS example, his photo #29941. Our grade is VF35.Certificate Number: 35762.58/57516980Pedigree: Ex Leon A. Van Horn (circa 1967)-Charles A.
