Glossy medium chocolate brown with darker chocolate in protected areas and lighter on the highpoints. The fields on the obverse were very lightly smoothed and there are traces of microscopic roughness in protected areas near the profile, mostly at the neck. Just a few trivial contact marks including a tiny nick left of the eye and a short, light scratch above the O in ONE. Looks better than it may sound. M-LDS, Breen state IV early, with die cracks and clashmarks at the date. Graded VF35 and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF40 net VF20 and tied for CC#4. Our grade is VF25. Any way you look at it this is one of the finest available for the variety. The attribution and Colonel Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. (The slab is a bit scuffed.)
