1796 S-109 R3 Draped Bust, Reverse of 1794 PCGS graded AU55+, CAC ApprovedVery attractive frosty steel brown and with tan and light steel brown covering the protected areas on both sides. Smooth and flawless except for a few trivial contact marks. The notable marks are a pair of dull rim nicks at the L in LIBERTY, a faint hairline scratch close over the hair ribbon, and a nick very close before the nose even with the bottom of the eye. M-LDS, Breen state IV late. A strong radial die crack reaches from the rim down through the upright of the T in LIBERTY and fades into the hair below the ear. The earlier die crack from the lowest curl passes through the top of the date before meandering through the bust and passing to the rim off the bust tip. This is a very attractive cent with a sharp, even strike. Graded AU50 net EF45 and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #59088. Not seen by Bland. Our grade is AU50 net EF45 as well. The second finest is graded VF30 and it is impounded in the ANS Collection, so this one really stands out. 1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
