A couple points sharper with minor roughness in the fields on the lower half of the obverse, strongest under the cap. The remainder of the planchet is smooth. No verdigris and the only notable sign of contact is a tiny rim nick right of the denominator. Glossy steel brown and chocolate. The obverse was lightly cleaned and retoned but the toning on the reverse appears original. EDS, Manley state 1.0, without any hint of a bulge right of the Y in LIBERTY. The date is relatively weak, as usual on the thick planchet version, but it is complete and easily readable while the reverse legend is strong. Struck on a thick planchet most likely cut down from a spoiled large cent. The weight is 100.3 grains versus the 84 grain standard for normal half cent planchets in 1795. Comes with a nice provenance.
