Struck over a cut-down Talbot Allum & Lee Cent. Lustrous steel brown with lighter brown and tan in the fields and protected areas. The strike is sharp and this piece has great eye appeal. The only marks are two small spots of darker toning (not carbon) at the end of the curls below the cap and a short scratch in the dentils under the 5. EDS, Manley state 1, Fuhrman state 1, with smooth fields and no trace of swelling right of the Y in LIBERTY. Undertype from the TAL Cent is visible under the date where ENT from CENT is clear. Our grade is AU58. A superior example of the variety; the visible TAL Cent undertype is a bonus. And it comes with a very nice provenance. Housed in an older generation PCGS slab.
