1794 S-65 R1 Head of 1794 VF35Very attractive glossy light to medium brown and olive with frost in some of the protected areas. Smooth with a few light contact marks including a tiny rim bruise left of the lowest curl and another over the R in LIBERTY. This cent has great eye appeal for the grade. Rare EDS, Breen state I late or II early, Heck state 2, with no die cracks, only faint die clashmarks on the obverse. Graded EF40 by Denis Loring (cataloger for the Dr. Ruby sale in 1974). Noyes says VF35 net VF30 and tied for CC#30 overall but finest of the early die state, his photo #25779. A very nice example of a rare die state, and it comes with an important provenance.Certificate Number: Pedigree: Ex Ebenezer Gilbert-Henry C. Hines-Barney Bluestone-Dr. Charles L. Ruby, Superior 2/11/1974:395 (as EF40, Plated)-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
