Sharpness VF25 but granular with specks of green verdigris in numerous small pits on both sides, mostly at the top of the reverse. A dull scrape under the second E in CAESAREA is the only contact mark. Dull dark steel and olive brown with lighter brown toning in some of the protected areas. Probably cleaned and retoned long ago. The date and legends are complete and clear except for the tops of a few letters above the shield because that side is misaligned to K-1. Late die state with a strong die crack from the rim up to the plow handles, a strong crack at OVA, and a rather large internal cud break at the chest of the horse. Not a pretty piece but the die state is special. Weight 166.8 grains.

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
