Rather frosty medium brown and light chocolate. Looks smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals very fine granularity covering the planchet. No verdigris or notable contact marks, just a light touch of wear on the highest points of the devices. A curved planchet clip at the bottom of the obverse (as struck) can quickly identify this piece. Intermediate die state with clear die clashmarks behind the portrait but no swelling on the obverse. Struck with the obverse misaligned to K-3 while the reverse is centered on the planchet. Not perfect but still one of the finest known of the variety, and it comes with a great provenance. The attribution and Miller-Ryder-Boyd-Ford provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Weight 143.9 grains.
