Glossy medium chocolate brown. Smooth with a planchet crack in the edge at K-1 on the reverse. Double struck with the first strike reasonably well centered on the planchet and the second about 35% off center to K-10. A portion of the edge was tapped down to eliminate the bulge created by the off-center impression (probably done at the "mint" before releasing the coin for circulation). The date on the first impression is not visible but the 178 from the off-center strike is clear. An impressive piece, and the "Double Struck" feature is noted on the PCGS label in addition to the attribution and Robert M. Martin Collection provenance.
