A "STATES UNITED" variety. Glossy tan and light brown with some darker olive brown toning in protected areas on the reverse. Possibly lightly cleaned long ago but the toning is attractive. The surfaces are quite nice, nearly smooth with just a hint of microscopic granularity in the fields and protected areas. The only marks are some faint hairline scratches lost in the rays left of the sun. Struck slightly off center to K-1 leaving a few of the sun rays off the planchet. The lower edge of the obverse is softly struck leaving parts of BUSINESS weak or unreadable, perhaps a result of die failure at the opposing area on the reverse. This extremely rare variety was missing from the Ford, Newman, and Partrick collections, and it is superior to the Norweb example. At least comparable to the Newman plate coin. This is a new discovery and will be a prize for the advanced collector of this very popular series. Weight 142.5 grains.

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
