Lustrous brown and light chocolate with generous traces of mint red remaining, especially on the obverse. No corrosion, verdigris, or contact marks. Essentially as struck with great eye appeal. The only defects are a chip out of the rim at the shoulder and a diagonal planchet flaw through ET and the globe, both as struck. Darker planchet slag shows in the fissures on the reverse. Otherwise this piece is absolutely choice. Later die state. The cud at the shoulder is bold and the vertical crack down through the seated figure is strong. Struck a bit off center to the top leaving the date off the planchet. This is the undisputed finest example of the variety and it comes with a nice provenance. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS62BN (Special PCGS label #687356.62/46981752 included, and it shows the attribution and EAC 1975-Sydney F. Martin Collection provenance). Weight 137.9 grains.
