A nicely detailed Very Fine where the designs are properly struck up, but the lower half of the obverse and upper part of the reverse are weakly struck due to swelling associated with the late die state. Rather glossy light to medium brown with medium chocolate brown toning in protected areas. The planchet is covered with microscopic roughness on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. A small flake at the bottom of the bust, another at the top of the U in AUCTORI, and a pair of small fissures in the field before the head of the seated figure are the notable planchet defects. A thin, old scratch through ET is the only contact mark. Both dies are swollen, especially the reverse, the latest state seen. The date is complete and strong in spite of the swelling in that area and most of the legends are clear. Weight 128.3 grains.
