Choice glossy medium brown with darker chocolate brown toning covering the protected areas. A beautiful piece, smooth and free of planchet defects. The only contact mark is a dull diagonal nick on the back of Britannia's head (although this may be a pre-striking void in the planchet). Struck noticeably off center to K-11.5 leaving parts of the legends and all of the date off the planchet. Later die state with strong die clashmarks on both sides and swelling on the left side of the reverse. Superior to the Perkins and Ford examples. This is the plate coin for Breen's coin #846 on page 75 in his Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins. Weight 125.0 grains

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.

Lots will open at one increment above second highest mail/phone bidder.
