Very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth and nearly flawless offering great eye appeal. The only marks, and they are trivial, are a small diagonal nick on the nose even with the bottom of the eye and a tiny rim bruise over the D in INDE. A small curved planchet clip affects the top of the first C in CONNEC and the lower part of the 87 in the date. Struck very slightly off center to K-1 leaving the bottom of the 17 tight to the edge of the planchet, but the date is easily readable. A premium example of a tough variety, and it comes with a great provenance. Superior to the Taylor and Perkins examples. Considered second finest by Rothschild. This is the plate coin for the variety in the Miller reference. Weight 149.8 grains.

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 20% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
7. Lots will be available for viewing during the Houston Money Show bourse hours January 17, 2020 and by appointment.
