1787 Connecticut Miller 19-g.4 R3 Draped Bust Left VG10

Slightly sharper but covered with fine roughness and there are a couple planchet fissures on the obverse, largest at the U in AUCTORI (as struck). Partly glossy dark olive brown with lighter brown and chocolate on the highpoints. This coin was struck two times. The first strike was a bit off center to K-4. The struck coin was then flipped over, properly positioned in the press, and struck again. Obvious evidence of the initial impression is visible at the throat of the portrait where the hand and branch are clearly visible with a rotation between strikes of about 90 degrees. The date did not survive but the T from AUCTORI is clearly visible on the throat of the seated figure. Another interesting mint error in the Rothschild Collection. Weight 142.2 grains.
