1786 Vermont Ryder-7 R3 Landscape with VERMONTENSIUM EF45

A very sharp example where the devices were properly struck, but there is obvious weakness on the right side thanks to axial misalignment of the dies (the die faces were not perfectly parallel). As a result the left two-thirds of both sides is extremely sharp, about as sharp as ever seen on this variety, while the right third is quite weakly struck. Nonetheless, the plow is complete, sharper than on the plate coins in the Carlotto reference on Vermont coppers. And it is worth noting that both of those Carlotto plate coins show weakness on the right sides. Glossy light olive and medium brown. No corrosion, verdigris, or contact marks, and just a touch of friction on the highpoints. The date is bold and the repunching on the 1 is obvious. An exceptional Vermont Landscape copper. Weight 125.9 grains.
