Sharpness VF30 but covered with microscopic granularity under an attractive and rather glossy chocolate brown with light brown toning on the devices. The two-tone appearance accents the details and this piece has nice eye appeal in spite of the imperfect surfaces. No verdigris but there are some marks including a half dozen light scratches and several light rim bruises, all on the reverse. The only mark on the obverse is a tiny planchet crease at the bottom of the 86, as struck. Struck slightly off center to K-5 leaving the bottom of the date tight to the edge of the planchet and some of the legend on the reverse slightly off the planchet. The date and legends remain easily readable and the "Bridle" feature is clear. A variety that is quite difficult to find in higher grades, and this piece comes with a very nice provenance. Weight 150.9 grains.

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 15% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.
