The "Tall Head" variety. The obverse is much sharper while the reverse is considerably weaker, a 35/7 split. In fact the obverse is one of the finest known for the Tall Head variety, and a planchet void over the O in POPULI (as struck) is the only mark on that side. There are myriad fine scratches covering the reverse, all old and lost in the attractive toning. The planchet is egg-shaped as often seen on the N-10 variety. There is a minor beveled-edge planchet clip at the feet of the seated figure. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown. Weight 163.2 grains.

AUCTION TERMS OF SALE
1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. In case of dispute the auctioneer may at his sole discretion reopen a lot. In all cases the auctioneer’s decision shall be final and binding on bidders.
2. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse to honor any bid which, at his sole discretion, he feels is not submitted in good faith. The auctioneer may withdraw any lot, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.
3. All sales are payable in U. S. funds immediately upon receipt of invoice unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale. Lots will not be released to buyers until paid for in full. Lots delivered in state of sale are subject to all applicable state and local taxes unless appropriate permits are on file with us.
4. Postage will be added to the invoice of all successful mail bidders.
5. A 15% buyer’s fee will be added to all invoices.
6. Please keep in mind this is not an approval sale. All sales are considered final. Sales to the floor may not be returned for any reason save authenticity. Sales to mail bidders are final unless lot proves to have been mis-described.

Lots will open at one increment above second highest mail/phone bidder.
