(1652-74) St. Patrick Farthing, Martin 8a.1-Ba.3, Griffee 81-2/0a, Breen-218, R5+ PCGS graded VF30. Type with a "Martlet Alone Below King." Glossy light to medium brown with chocolate brown in protected areas. Smooth and attractive but there is a dent on the left edge of St. Patrick that created a subtle bulge at the back of the king. The bulge was called a die state in the Martin auction catalog, but it is from the very-well-hidden dent. The obverse is slightly misaligned to the top while the reverse is nearly centered on the planchet. A spot of dark toning in the field over St. Patrick's outstretched arm is the best identifying mark. Weight a hefty 105.0 grains. The attribution and Martin Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 915300.30/10884260 Ex William Anton-Lawrence R. Stack Collection 11/2006-Sydney F.
